Derby Day - One day at the Melbourne Canival Cup (10/29/05)
We had a great time at Derby Day. We made some new friends, who unfortunately live in Sydney, but originally come from Ireland. We met them about 1/2 way through the day and then hung out the rest of the night. We had a great time.
The "Great Ocean Road" (10/31/05 - 11/1/05)
We took the car (which Brian now fondly call's "Brick") and drove the "Great Ocean Road". It was a beatiful couple of days and we had a great time. There was one small adventure...
Koala Bears in Kent Valley (11/1/05)
These little animals are the cutest things! Some of them were not so little. We drove to Kent Valley and turned off onto Grey River Road.
Adelaide and Barossa Valley (11/04/2005-11/6/2005)
Brian had to go to Adelaide to meet with a client on Friday, so I followed along. We spent Saturday in Barossa Valley with a personal tour of the towns and villiages of the valley as well as the wineries. Werner Gattermayr of Barossa Experience Tours was our wondeful guide through the area and we would recommend his tours to anyone.
Phillip Island (11/12/2005-11/14/2005)
The Penguin March was the coolest thing to see, however they didn't allow photos. It was a little chilly that weekend and the weather was drizzly, so they didn't let us go on the Seal Rocks cruise. However, we had a great time exploring the Island.
Melbourne Zoo (11/18/2005)

Bendigo/Heathcote Region (11/19/2005 - 11/20/2005)
We drove up to the Bendigo/Heathcote wine region and stayed in Bendigo. Heathcote is Brian's favorite wine region, however we enjoyed Bendigo Cabernets. If you want some recommendations, email Brian.
Perth (11/24/2005 - 12/1/2005)
Perth is in Western Australia. The flight was about 4 hours and the time difference was 3 hours behind Melbourne. Brian had to work Monday and Tuesday, but we extended the trip until Thursday so that he could relax. We went to some Margaret River wineries, Rottsnest Island, and surfing. There are a lot of pictures of the week as well as a video of Abby attempting to surf. (You will need Quicktime to view the movie.)
Mornington Peninsula (12/8/2005 - 12/12/2005)
Brian had an "off-site" meeting down on the Mornington Peninsual in Arthur's Seat (Red Hill). Abby went along and did some sight-seeing as well as swimming with some wild seals. The dolphins did not show up that day, so she will just have to go back and try again. It was an amazing experience. We spent some time in Sorento and then headed to Brian's co-worker's house (Paul) for the rest of the weekend. We had a wonderful relaxing time at Sandy Point.
Christmas in Wagga Wagga (12/24/2005 - 12/26/2005)
We spent a wonderful few days in Wagga Wagga with the Post family. Richard Post (Posty as he's fondly called by everyone) lives next door to us in Mahopac. He was kind enough (or is it crazy enough?) to introduce us to his family and they invited us to spend Christmas with them. We had a wonderful time with all of the Posts and enjoyed seeing where they all grew up (the family farm). We felt like part of the family when we left them on boxing day and hope to see them again before we leave.
Canberra, the capital of Australia (12/26/2005-12/28/2005)
We left the Post family and headed to Canberra. It's like a little Washington D.C. It's a very young city (the second oldest building was built in 1968). Since it was boxing day when we arrived there wasn't too much going on, but we took a little cruise around to see the sites and had fun at the Royal Australian Mint.
Bondi Beach (12/28/20005)
We left Canberra and headed to Sydney and stayed at Coogee Beach and spent some time at Bondi beach. It is just south of Sydney. We had a great time on a nice 6 mile walk along the coast line (between beaches) and watching the surfers and enjoying some swimming.
Happy Birthday Brian (12/29/2005)
We had a great time on Brian's Birthday. We met up with the same crew we met at the horse races in November. It was another great night with Ciaran, Sandi, Charles, etc...
Sydney 12/29/2005 - 1/1/2006)
We had a great time in Sydney. We went on the Harbor Bridge Climb on Brian's birthday and just did some sight-seeing. Michael (Posty's brother, who we did meet in August when he was visiting the US) was kind enough to invite us to spend some time in Manly and we enjoyed a day there with him. We were crazy and hung out with the crowds for the fireworks on NYE. It was fun and crowded (kind of like Times Square, only warm!). Michael was the smart one and stayed in Manly. Our drive home was cut short because it was 115 degrees on 1/1/2006, so we had to park the car and spend the day at the beach. The next day was much cooler and we made the 13 hour drive back to Melbourne with no problems. We were tired, but what an adventure....
Yarra Valley 1/21/2006
We spent a day visiting a few wineries in Yarra valley. It was over 100 degrees again, so my brain forgot to take a few of the winery's pictures and also of the beautiful area. Hopefully we will get up there again.
Healesville Sanctuary 1/22/2006
We spent a very hot Sunday (again, over 100 degrees) in the sanctuary, playing with Australian animals. It was a lot of fun.
Australian Open 1/24/2006
We bought ground passes and wandered around on a Tuesday night. The arena area is huge and there were lots of little matches going on. Our passes did not allow us into the main arena, but we did get to watch Martina Hingis play doubles.

The following are not detailed yet, but you can see all of the fun. I will get details up at some point. We are heading home next week and then to my brother's wedding. We're sad to leave but excited to see everyone. See you all soon...
